Rathmines
Contemporary Garden
This garden connects to a very stylish upgraded Georgian home in Rathmines, Dublin 6. Requirements for the clients was to have lots of space to socialise with friends. They were not keen on having a lawn and wanted a contemporary look to the design. They also needed storage.
This would mean more hard landscaping than a traditional garden space. The former garden had been overgrown and was not a level space sloping towards the house. The water feature with a unique blue render is a key feature in this space looked on from a built in bench and firepit zone. There is a kitchen counter at the dining section on the lower level which is a very pleasant space to sit on a sunny day. The firepit and kitchen countertop elements are custom made from polished concrete. Evergreen structural planting are used to add definition and give the garden all year round interest. A shed was built at the rear of the garden hidden behind a tall rendered wall.
