This garden had challenges. The rear section had a 15 m drop. A new building site behind the house had taken over existing privacy which needed to be addressed. There were shaded places at the house which were visually unattractive.

A simple contemporary design would expand this garden and maximise the use of all areas. A muted colour scheme on all hard landscape surfaces would help to create a calm garden. The rear section was built up and the complete garden was brought to one level. This took heavy ground work to complete. Pleached evergreen Oak trees would create privacy from the rear building site plus add structure to the garden. A plant design brought all shaded areas to life and sun areas flourished with grasses and perennials.
