Cliff at Lyons Hotel
Spa garden phase two
The Cliff at Lyons Hotel wanted to create a garden space for residents to include, jacuzzi’s, saunas, outdoor showers and an ice bucket shower. This had to be a luxurious space for people to relax in and feel special. This space had multiple challenges. A large building was on full view, it was a sloped site, there was no access to plumbing facilities and we needed a strong power supply for all new garden features.
I liked the existing Betula trees (Birch) and decided to build the garden around them. A series of deck walkways would bring the visitor on a journey through this space creating multiple planting beds. The planting would act as a subtle divider creating privacy to each space for the hotel residents. By combining both native and exotic plants I could create an international feel to this garden that could lead to the ultimate feeling of escape! With hot water jacuzzi’s and showers one could use this space in most weather conditions. Tall bamboo screened the building and created a blanket of green foliage on the perimeter. The lighting plan was very important here. It had to be subtle but also had to be a safe place to navigate within. Overall it turned out to be a very interesting space to relax and unwind in. This garden was built in early Spring 2022.
